VILLA INGWE & OUR ENVIRONMENT
"Earth does not belong to us; we belong to earth" Chief Seattle
Environment
We believe it our role to contribute actively to the sustainability. Within this context several measures have been taken in Villa Ingwe
-
During the building process a minimum of trees have been removed
-
For all removed tree, at least 2 new trees will be planted (ongoing); we’ve planted indigenous endangered tree-species (take a tour in the garden to find the different tree-species)
-
A SodaStream is available to limit plastic waste
-
The building uses a maximum of renewable energy sources (i.e. heat-pumps, solar panels with a battery system) and energy saving technologies are applied where possible (e.g. LED lights, all home appliances have an excellent A-rating)
-
Environmentally friendly washing powder is foreseen within Villa Ingwe
-
Our housekeeper will only work with environmentally friendly cleaning products
How can you contribute?
-
By visiting Villa Ingwe you’ll indirectly support the fate of Africa’s rhino’s. You’re visit will sponsor Rhino Revolution
-
We don’t expect you to limit your comfort, but try to limit the usage of the aircon-systems to what is really necessary. The water from the American fridge is filtered, drinking water
-
Don’t use the air-conditioning when doors or windows are open
-
We recommend using the fans, if you put them on 2 they’ll give you a nice cooling breeze during the night with very limited energy consumption
-
Try to limit the usage of water
-
Feel free to use the SodaStream machine for your sparkling water or soda’s (a reserve cylinder can be found)
-
For excursions we have foreseen re-usable water bottles
-
Use the waste separation bins so a maximum waste can be recycled
-
Feel free to use the drying lines in the scullery rather than using the dryer
-
Please do enjoy a fire in the boma but try to keep the fire to a reasonable size
-
Drive slowly within the estate to limit casualties (30 km/h)
